Find the perfect work-life balance in beautiful Devon
Do you long to work only a short drive from beautiful scenes like this one? Being able to dolphin spot and paddleboard on your time off is part of our reality here. We are perched between the beautiful Devon coastline and Dartmoor, with the vibrant city of Exeter only a 15-minute drive away.
Whiskers Vets are a growing, forward thinking, small animal practice based just outside Newton Abbot in Devon. We strive to provide high quality care for our patients whilst also ensuring a great work-life balance for our team! We work a 4 day week, with no OOHs and a shared Saturday morning rota. Our diary is well managed with 15 minute consults and plenty of breaks throughout the day to allow for phone calls or reading up around cases. All of our nurses are qualified RVNs and our receptionists are BVRA trained so they are a big support – especially on those busier days.
Our clinic is modern, well equipped and purpose built and over the last 5 years we have achieved General Practice RCVS accreditation and Silver ISFM Cat Friendly status. We have in house laboratory facilities, separate cat and dog wards, an isolation ward, digital X-ray, multi-parameter monitoring, ultrasound machine and a new tonometer which our ophthalmologist certificate holder Sarah has been putting to good use. We also have a hand-held dental X-ray machine who we affectionately call Nelly!
We are independently run which means we have no restrictions on how we manage the clinical side of the practice. We encourage active involvement in the management and development of the practice by holding regular team meetings which usually involves plenty of tea and cake.
Here is what our vet Danielle Willey has to say about working here!
“I joined Whiskers in 2019. After feeling burnt out at my previous practice I was looking for a better work life balance without having to compromise on patient and client care.
I feel like I have found a needle in a haystack at Whiskers – they provide a high level of care with plenty of time around consults for case work up, research, phone call etc. so it is rare to leave late, with a fun and supportive team who all band together on the busier days so you don’t feel like you’re doing it all on your own, high quality patient care which they are constantly striving to improve upon as well as giving their staff a great work life balance to enjoy everything beautiful Devon has to offer!”
