This visit is a relaxed meet-and-greet and socialisation appointment, giving your pet time to get comfortable with our team. We carry out a health check, update your pet’s weight, and take the first calm, positive step in your Whiskers journey.
Why the first visit matters
Importantly, this appointment establishes the legally required veterinary-client-patient relationship (VCPR). Only once this relationship is in place can we safely, legally and responsibly prescribe prescription (POM-V) parasite prevention.
To keep this service truly complimentary, these appointments are reserved for healthy pets only. If your pet is unwell or has an ongoing medical condition, we may need to book a standard clinical consultation so our vets can dedicate the appropriate time and expertise to their care.

- Flea, worming & parasite POM-V authorisation check
- Dental examination and home-care recommendations
- Husbandry, feeding and general wellbeing advice
- Meet & greet / socialisation visit to build confidence
- Pre-neutering advice, preparation and aftercare guidance
- Weight check and updating your pet’s clinical records
- Establishing continuity of care to allow safe, responsible prescribing
Not suitable, needs a clinical consultation
- Any signs of being unwell
- Lameness, limping or mobility issues
- Itchy skin, rashes, hair loss or ear problems
- Vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing or sneezing
- Long-standing or chronic medical conditions
- Behavioural concerns needing dedicated assessment
These situations require a chargeable clinical consultation, where our vets can dedicate their professional time to investigate and treat the problem safely and thoroughly.
